My husband and I went to The District by GS for the first time on Sunday 1/30/22 for brunch. We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere, and aesthetic of the restaurant was a pleasant visual experience. The indoor and outdoor spaces were elegant and welcoming. The greeter/hostess was super nice and helpful. The tables were spaced nicely w/ COVID in mind.
We had an 11am reservation. Parking in back was very easy and the parking lot is ample. We were on time and seated promptly. We were asked to show proof of vaccination at the door, we did happily. Everyone inside the restaurant was vaccinated which put us a little more at ease dining out during a pandemic. It appeared that outdoor seating was available for the unvaccinated.
The servers were pleasant and friendly. Our food was delivered quickly. The presentation was beautiful, and the food was served hot! We order appetizers and our entrees at the same time. We shared 1 crabcake and an order of Salmon Taquitos. The crab cake was delicious and the Taquitos were AMAZING. For our entrees, I had Salmon and Grits. The Salmon could be breaded and fried or grilled. I chose to have it fried, the salmon was melt in your mouth good and the grits were almost better than my grandmother’s grits Super Creamy and delicious. My husband had Grilled Salmon and Shrimp on a bed of Mashed potatoes. The presentation was lovely and he loved his meal. To drink, I just had water and he had a diet Coke, boring I know. We sat near the bar and all the beautiful drinks were flowing from the full service bar that almost spanned the length of the restaurant. Drinks for us next time.
The restaurant was gearing up for the football game coming on. We’re not sports fans, but the TVs everywhere, very engaging. Every seat was a good seat to see the TVs. We also notice the band instruments set up on stage. We would definitely stop in for live entertainment soon I hope.
We highly recommend this restaurant, and we will be back soon! It was wonderful to dine in this beautiful black own establishment.
